The Junicode Greek Project
The Junicode Greek Project aims to add the full Greek character set to the Junicode Font. The objectives:
- The characters will be "old style," but usable in a modern context.
- The Greek characters will harmonize with Junicode's Latin characters in size and weight.
- The font will be usable for classical and biblical Greek: thus the Greek Extended (polytonic) characters will be included.
- The ligatures used in older Greek printing will be included, and made available as an OpenType feature.
The model for the Greek character ranges is a Greek Double Pica designed by Alexander Wilson (1714-86) and used by the Foulis publishing house in Glasgow, a distinguished publisher of classical and other texts, for its renowned edition of Homer (1756-8).

At present the basic lower-case characters have been roughed in, and several have been edited to be in at least roughly final form. The edited characters look like this (pictured with several roman characters for comparison):

You can help with this project, if you know Greek better than I do, by providing feedback. Some questions that occur to me:
- Wilson's font does not have the k-style kappa. Should I include this, or just use the x-style kappa?
- The shapes of zeta, rho, phi and perhaps others differ markedly from what one usually sees in modern Greek fonts. Should these be modernized, or will they do as-is?
I welcome any and all suggestions. Please write to the address below.
